Welcome to the home of the Bose Lab. We are a microbiology lab in the Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Currently, the lab focuses on the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Specifically, we are interested in how S. aureus regulates the production of virulence factors. One of our main projects relates to how the ability to use environmental fatty acids alter cell physiology, gene regulation and virulence. The second project examines how the stress response system of YjbH and Spx contributes to RNS/ROS resistance and virulence. These studies encompass genetics, protein function and in vivo models of infection to examine infection relevance of our studies. In addition we are active in the generation of new genetic tools to aid researchers studying S. aureus and other related bacteria.
